Here's a running list of recent improvements to the app. I'll update this thread as new features and fixes ship.
v7.0 Highlights
Decaf Support — Decaf beans are now a first-class input across the entire app. Inventory, roasting, tasting, blending, and Java Geek all recognize decaf and adjust accordingly. The roasting module generates decaf-specific profiles with lower charge temps and gentler heat curves (decaf scorches easily), warns you that first crack may be muted or inaudible, and adjusts expected weight loss. Quality scoring no longer penalizes the characteristics that are normal for decaf — muted crack, color running ahead of development. If you roast decaf, this is a big deal. Roast Quality Scoring — The 0–100 roast execution score is now available on the Home tier. You get a "where to focus" and "what's working" readout after every roast, with per-metric targets calibrated to your roaster model.
Quick Roast Mode — Streamlined roasting for people who want to pick a bean, choose a level, and go. Three information modes during the roast: Minimal (timer + milestones only), Guided (phase names, sensory cues, first crack countdown), and Detailed (live DTR%, development time). Milestone buttons stick to the bottom of the screen so you never have to scroll mid-roast. Haptic feedback on every tap.
Roasting Engine
- Per-model timing calibration — 10 roaster models now have individually calibrated profiles (see the module tour post for the full list). Attachment modifiers for Razzo V4T/V5T extension tubes.
- Commercial roasters — 7 commercial models added with class-based fallbacks for uncalibrated machines.
- Shared-circuit stall prevention — Heat sustain logic during development on 15A circuits where voltage drop can stall the roast right at first crack.
- Bean-adjusted weight loss grading — Quality scoring now adjusts expected weight loss by origin and processing. Ethiopian natural medium is graded against 12.5–14.5%, not the generic 15–17%.
Other Improvements
- Inventory processing dropdown reorganized to match Java Geek, with Craft mode showing only common methods
- Vendor and variety fields are now editable everywhere with pre-populated suggestions
- Roast Alerts: audio, voice, and haptic cues for heat/fan changes
- Robusta espresso blend recipes (Naples-style, third-wave accent, Vietnamese-inspired, crema-focused)
- Coffee Atlas: interactive world map color-coded by your roasting history
- Adaptive Roast: streamlined setup, DTR% during development, sensory cues during active roasting
